Getting Started

I encourage you to embark on a journey to leave to your family your thoughts from your study and meditation on paper.  I read that John Quincy Adams wrote many letters to his children in the midst of his demanding duties.  I reflected that if Mr. Adams found time to write to his children, so could I.  Later I noticed that God in Deuteronomy 6 commanded the fathers, former slaves in Egypt, to love God and His Word and teach their children by example, with conversation and by writing.  That cemented my conviction to keep writing.

I started with a Bible, a sheet of notebook paper and a pen.  That is all you need.  I prefer the slower pace of pen and paper to lay out the thought before the eyes.  Additionally, paper is more portable and durable.  Collect the papers in a 3 ring notebook and you have a commentary for your children and grandchildren.  Add a few letters of the Greek or Hebrew alphabet every day and in 300 days you begin to learn the letters.

As I said earlier it might be a waste of your time to read too much of this blog.  It is an attempt to archive some of the letters in a searchable index for my family.  But you are welcome to look over my shoulder and be encouraged to redeem the time you have to read to your family, write to your family and talk to your family.

God Bless.
